Welcome to the Riata Breeding Horse Association (RBHA). One of the oldest associations in Riata, the RBHA was
first created in late 2004, and run by a member who is now inactive, causing it
to shut down. Later, in late August 2005, seeing the need for an active place to
enable the breeding population of Riata to compete consistently in, Elaine chose
to revive it, and the RBHA has been active and running smoothly ever since.
The RBHA's main goal is to provide a friendly, professional atmosphere for the
proud fathers and mothers of Riata to show, and a place where they can compete
against each other to prove their worth. Due to the many specialised discipline
shows constantly held, the competition horses of Riata are usually in the
limelight, pushing back recognition of Riata's other "side", the breeding
aspect, aside. As so, RBHA strives to give each horse equal ground to compete
on, and recognition for the extremely important part they all play in Riata history.
Monthly shows are held to give breeding horses consistent chances to
show, with large amounts of prize money awarded to winners of each class.
In 2007, the Inspection Initiation was started, a programme to rate
the registered horses. In December 2008, the classlist was revised,
and a general vote decided that youngstock classes would be removed
from the RBHA classlist. This resulted in a much neater and more understandable
classlist, as well as making it much easier to tabulate points for year-end
awards. 2009 marks a big year of change for the RBHA, for the plan is
to market the RBHA to all the breeding population of Riata and draw
in both stud and broodmare owners to compete. Slight changes in show
rules were also established to ensure all horses competing are breeding
stock, and there are more plans underway to activate the Inspection
Initiation, as well as launch the new 100 Day Performance Test, 10 Day
Mares Test, and the Star Program.
The RBHA was created to serve the breeding population, so if you, the
participants, have any inquiries, ideas, complaints, or wishes, feel free to
express them, and I will do my utmost best to incorporate it into the
association.
RBHA monthly shows are held at Phoenician Stud.
